When it comes to straightening teeth, traditional braces are one of the most efficient tools we have. Metal or ceramic brackets are attached to your teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments, these components apply gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
If you need to correct simple or complex oral issues, Weston braces are an excellent choice. Because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. In addition, braces don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making them a cost-effective option for patients on a budget.
Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move the teeth into alignment. These aligners are very popular with our teen and adult patients, and Invisalign is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material that is virtually invisible. The trays are designed to fit snugly over your teeth and are generally switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps your teeth moving in the right direction. You have to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours every day during your treatment for them to do their job. If you don’t wear them as instructed, you won’t get the end results you want and your treatment will take longer.
Invisalign tends to be most effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. A consultation with Sawgrass Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
