Plantation Braces

Traditional braces are still one of the most efficient and effective tools we have. Metal or ceramic brackets are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments, these parts work together to apply gentle pressure, which gradually moves the teeth into the desired positions.

Plantation braces are a great choice for fixing many tooth issues, both simple and complex. Because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, overall treatment time can be slightly reduced. They also do not depend on the more complicated technology that some newer treatments require, which is a big part of why they have stayed the most common option year after year.

Plantation Invisalign

Instead of brackets and bands, the Plantation Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to slowly but consistently move the teeth into alignment. This option is popular with patients and orthodontists alike and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.

Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient's teeth. The trays are virtually invisible and are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps the teeth moving in the right direction. Aligners have to be worn 20-22 hours per day for them to do their job. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign is most effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, it may not be a viable option. A free consultation with Sawgrass Orthodontics will help determine your eligibility.
